I saw Garciaparra in the AFL a few years back. While no star, he's serviceable at the IF spots and can be an okay slap hitter

Woodward is basically Craig Counsell insurance. If the Brewers had Kansas City or Seattle's record right now, they'd be less concerned about bringing in an experienced guy....

Without re-listening to the Huntsville audio archive, which may have provided details, simply put the Huntsville Media Relations staff sent out a press release on the transaction, then rescinded it, then it actually went live. It was probably pulled back initially when there were questions as to whether it would become official in time for Saturday's roster. Huntsville's front office confirms that Milwaukee has signed 25-year-old infielder Michael Garciaparra, brother of Ramon and the (thus-far) failed former # 1 draft pick (# 36 overall) of Seattle in 2001. In 2007, Philadelphia claimed Garciaparra off waivers. he had not played pro ball in 2008 until now.

Garciaparra takes suspended Ryan Crew's spot on the AA roster.

At West Virginia:

RHP Wes Etheridge has been placed on the disabled list and LHP Curtis Pasma has been activated after a brief stint on the disabled list to take his place on the roster. Etheridge, the 2007 12th round pick, had given up five runs in 1.2 IP on the 25th.

To make room for Zach Jackson on the Sounds' roster, the Brewers placed Jeff Weaver on the Temporary Inactive List. As of now, Weaver is still scheduled to make his next start on Saturday. So we'll see what happens -- it appears the Brewers are simply buying some time on their eventual roster decision.
