Posts: 4465 November 6, 2009 1:36 PM	People tend to forget JJ is not always the Most Healthy player, but maybe Melvin decided to make this team more of a Running Team. I would not mind some Speed in the lineup even though our Manager is not that type of Guy. The Pitching Worries me cause they keep talking Mulder and the Rest of the Fa besides Lackey are nothing to brag about. I have a feeling Melvin will work some kind of trade for the High Risk High Reward type of Pitcher. The other thing that bothers me is that it looking like Melvin might again put all his Eggs in The Rickie Weeks Basket,which could be a hugh mistake.

Posts: 581 November 6, 2009 1:37 PM	Melvin said he couldn't get any pitcher that he wanted in return for Hardy, so he took the best offer on the table, we can't really be mad about that. Hardy had to go, and Escobar had to play. Doug will use the money on free agent pitching.

Posts: 1245 November 6, 2009 1:37 PM	Yeah guys, this is not that horrible. Saving money is a big part. It'll be spent on pitching. I think you almost have to look at it as, for instance, Morrow/Cameron = ???/Gomez. Who we get to fill in the question mark goes a long way to determining the winner of the deal. Not to even mention seeing what stats the four involved in the equation put up next year, in addition to Hardy. I still think this is a pretty solid trade and just from looking around the world wide web, most non-brewer and non-twins fans think this is a fairly even trade considering the cost savings for the Brewers

And all Gomez is doing is replacing a good defender who's also a good hitter. That's a complete downgrade. *Who could the brewers have replaced in CF next year?* I'd prefer Gerut to Gomez. Gomez is just terrible. He should be in the minors. *He still not developted yet on offense. If he can learn to take a walk once in awhile, we all of a sudden have an elite player.* His offensive track record in the majors and minors speaks for itself. He's just not a good offensive player and I doubt he ever will be. Over 1,000 at bats in the majors and he can't even crack a .300 OBP. He is awful.

Posts: 1503 November 6, 2009 1:44 PM	Bruce, Gomez has not shown any ability to hit major league pitching whatsoever and he rarely walks as well. Its nice that he plays great defense but adding him to the bottom of the lineup with Escobar, most likely Kendall and the pitchers spot means we will most likely have an awful lineup once you get past the 5 hole. Is it possible that Gomez gets better; yes it is but banking on a player that has never hit well wo do just that is not a formula for success. How many runs have we lost replacing Hardy and Cameron with Gomez and Escobar. I think we have just turned an above average NL offense into a pedestrian one and without top notch pitching we are now a bad team.
