How Good is the Brewers Bullpen?  (topic)
Here are a couple of stats, not including tonight's dominating (once again) performance by the bullpen. Brewer relievers: - Lead the MLB in OPS against at .615, with the next best team being Boston with a .666 OPS against - Lead the NL in BA against, ...

How is this team 31-22  (topic)
I was looking through the stats yesterday and couldn't believe this team is 9 games over .500 as we approach the end of the first 3rd of the season. I went through the lineup and there are only 2 positions that are exceeding expectations CF (Cameron) ...

Bullpen roles pretty well set - not looking too bad?  (topic)
Obvioulsy every game and situation is different, and these are not set in stone, but with Hoffman's return/debut, along with what has transpired thus far, it appears that the bullpen is rounding into shape in terms of who will and should be called upon to ...

It would be nice if the starting pitcher went 7 more often  (topic)
The bullpen wouldn't get so much criticism if the starters would go a bit deeper in games. Yesterday Bush was the first Brewer starter to go 7 full innings this year, although the rotation did have 8 quality starts of 6 innings. (This was the 3rd from ...

Six games in, what do we know?  (topic)
I know 6 games is a tiny sample when looking at a full baseball season but I think it's safe to say the following: -Suppan is a major liability in the rotation (master of the obvious). Why Macha had him start the first game is beyond me. He is going ...

Bullpen Arms... Josh Kalk's (THT) Bullpen Analysis: reply #24  (topic)
Assuming that we take 12 arms in our staff, who do you guys think we will take. This Gagne signing makes for a very competitive Spring Training battle This is who I think we should take in our bullpen: Hoffman: Closer McClung: Long relief/spot start ...

I am leaning heavily toward CV as a starter...  (topic)
I know he only went about five solid innings and always seemed to get rocked in the sixth inning last year. However, I much prefer going with him as a starter next year as opposed to as a reliever. I actually like our bullpen quite a bit even without CV ...

Pitching questions for next year  (topic)
As this season closes there are obviously a lot of questions for next years team. There is already a thread for the lineup so was interested in what other people were thinking about the pitching staff for next year (if this is in another thread feel free ...

playoff strategy  (topic)
What would you like to see us do in the playoffs for rotation, lineup, bullpen etc? I would go with a rotation of Gallardo, Sabathia, Bush I would think. Go with the normal Lineup against lefties and if Hart doesn't look better against Hamels sit him ...

Closer by committee from here on out?  (topic)
Torres is not pitching well in September. Should we try someone new for the remaining games? Or take a committee approach and just go for matchups like any other late inning. We have enough other relief pitchers to cover for him - most of the others ...

Time to move Parra to the bullpen?  (topic)
Parra has looked bad his last couple of outings. Shouldn't McClung be moved from the bullpen and into the rotation? I believe Parra is about out of gas and I would rather have him rested up and ready to go for the playoffs out of the bullpen if needed ...

Bullpen, Melvin's biggest failure.  (topic)
Gagne 10M, Riske 4M, Mota 3.2M, Torres 3.2M, Shouse 2M = 22.4M Florida Marlins = 21.8M And their bullpen is on the same level as ours. I understand the successes of Torres and ...

The missing piece to this bullpen -- Gallardo  (topic)
As good and exciting as this team is, they have a major flaw -- the bullpen. To prevent another bullpen meltdown costing us a shot at the postseason again, we seem to have enacted Operation Don't Let The Relievers Pitch '08. That's been good to some ...

Time to give Villanueva the 8th inning?  (topic)
I know the timing of this could be a little better because CV has not looked great his last few outings, but I think the question can be asked. Here are the stats for all Brewer relievers who have thrown 20 or more innings of relief this year (stats ...

Bullpen 2007 vs bullpen 2008  (topic)
Our bullpen has been better overall this year than last year. I am actually wondering if our bullpen is better this year than last year. In my opinion I don't think we have much better guys in our pen than we did last year. The results are better, but ...

Is Gagne Back? (Relief Situation)  (topic)
Is it just me or has Gagne looked pretty good in his last couple of outings? If he can come around, it will be just the same as if we traded for a relief pitcher. The same could be said for Riske. He has looked good as of late as well. The bullpen ...

Is there anything missing on Brewers run for the Title?  (topic)
Just a few questions that popped into my head. Of course, this is under the assumption we are still in the race or have made the playoffs. 1. Who is our speed guy off the bench? 2. Who do you want on the mound if we need to get through 1 last inning to ...

So what's next with the pitching staff?  (topic)
Who gets bumped from the rotation, McClung or Bush? Stetter get sent down? My guess is McClung to the pen. Stetter is the only one i can see getting sent down, but that's a shame because i trust him more than Gagne or Mota.

Closer controversy: Torres vs. Gagne  (topic)
Do most here generally feel that Torres should stay in the closers role? I don't think there's anyone else in the bullpen right now that I feel more comfortable giving a 1 run lead to. He has relatively painlessly gotten the job done, while even Gagne's ...

McClung to rotation, Villanueva to the bullpen  (topic)
Bush and Suppan have been flip-flopped in the rotation, Bush will pitch game three in Pittsburgh, Soup goes in game one in Washington. Carlos Villanueva's next turn is now TBA.
