Wood was a very promising prospect coming out of high school, with intriguing talents both as a hitter and as a pitcher. He has played the infield exclusively since joining East Carolina, and has good power potential given his tall and wiry strong frame. He is willing to work the count, but also has the tendency to strike out given his approach and long swing. He may have to move to either second base or third down the road, but he has good athletic actions and a strong arm. Should he fail as a hitter, there's a chance he could be developed as a pitcher with a low-90s fastball and potential hammer curve.
