i guess there's an outside possibility that the call to AAA is Brantley...he's got the most ab's in AA and fills the CF role as a possibility for 2008...we'll call it a long shot...but i can see an argument being made..

that would be my guess...there's no way Cain stays at AAA...

I thought Cain was stretched as a center fielder?

No, I meant Cain. I know Cain is a good defender, but I didn't think he was a center fielder.

From looking around a bit, it appears as if I'm just crazy.

According to the 2008 BA Prospect Handbook, Cain can "play CF in a pinch" so take that for what it's worth. He looked a little awkward in spring
training out there, but he's certainly physically gifted enough to do it.

I knew I should have looked harder for the '08 Handbook. I couldn't find it, though, so I settled for the 2007 BA Top 10 online, where Tom H predicts Cain will be
the 2010 CF. I should trust my memory more, I guess. That, or alphabetize my bookshelf.

I could see Brantley to AAA due to the defensive flexibility, his improving slg, and his outstanding batting eye. Theoretically, if Cameron struggles, and
Weeks puts up iffy leadoff numbers, he'd be a possibility come August

Colby has 21st-rounder Lucas Luetge as signed as well.

No word on Luetge. As I noted in my scouting profile on him (at least I think I mentioned this), I think he's one of the more likely candidates to return
to school. If you hear otherwise, we all obviously would love to know the details.
Rice is one of those schools that is tough to pry talent away from, both HS recruits and existing players. And kudos to the Brewers for getting so many signings done so quickly. Of course this is nothing new, directed to those that try to go out of their way to find a way to bash the team for being cheap with their draft signings.

Luetge is bolded on the official signing page in the draft forum. I was excited when I thought they got him, but it makes since why he would think heavily
about returning. He was actually drafted higher a year ago.

Yeah, he is bolded. Did you mean to bold Knecht? I saw you had him bolded earlier.

in the Brewers' press release today they list 20 signings, Luetge is not one of them |

Whoops. Sorry about that. Luetge is bolded for good reason, as the team did sign him. He is definitely one of the team's higher profile, more aggressive
signs from their late round picks. I think my explanation of Rice players and Luetge's situation only increases the excitment for that transaction.
Assuming they get most of their picks in the top 20 signed (which I'm assuming they will, since they almost always do), Winkler is the one guy you should keep your fingers crossed for.

Lintz, Seth Lintz, who isn't due to sign until Friday officially. 20 in the press release plus Lintz and Luetge makes 22. Wonder who the last guy is.
