I just saw this, it looks like Mr Rogers will never join the neighborhood.

While disappointing, its almost relieving to find out there was scar tissue to clean out, which was holding him back. I'd rather him need more surgery,
than be healthy but throwing with no velocity.

i can't imagine that he's done. he's only 22 so hopefully he can come back. Didn't Manny have a bunch of shoulder problems too? Nevertheless,
this is incredibly disappointing. we really need to figure out how to develop pitchers.

While this is bad news in the short term, it wasn't all together unexpected, and scar tissue doesn't overly concern me at this time. If he can pitch by
the AFL I'll be estatic.

Yeah, as thecrew said, it would have been more surprising if the article was that he wouldn't miss all of 2008.

It's been a long time since we received some good Rogers news. (And I am sure if feels a lot longer to Mark)
Scar tissue can often break up on it's own. Plus, doing another surgery can create more scar tissue. So this isn't very encouraging. It almost sounds like they are grasping at straws along the "something isn't right here" train of thought. Best of luck to him. |

I never like the thought of drafting pitchers that need their mechanics changed. There were pitchers that the Brewers should've considered ahead of Rogers
based on this alone.

Actually he appears to feel very good and finally very excited. For the first time in a long time no discomfort thru a full range of motion. A little early to
tell yet but it would seem it's been addressed and taken care of.
Still have to chuckle over the "mechanics" comments though but then he has been the only pitcher within the organization from top to bottom with a problem, hmmmm! If I were to have wished one thing it would have been to have let him fail with his natural talent and then fix him. Thinking positive though let's be excited for the coming season. |

Jon M Rogers wrote: I have to agree with this. Rogers didn't seem to be too comfortable with the mechanical changes the Brewers offered him, and in a way I wouldn't mind it if they just let him pitch the way that feels natural to him. Ben Sheets had mentioned something about working on his arm slot in the off season and finding one which felt comfortable on his own... it seems to be working well for him so far, however I suppose he never really had shoulder/arm issues. I'm sure there is proof out there showing that the mechanical changes that have been made on players often work out better in the long run, but wouldn't it make sense that for players who are having a hard time adjusting to their new motions, that it might just be more safe to see what feels good for them? These thoughts are just coming from an outsider though who hasn't studied up on the secrets of player development that organizations use.

Thanks for the update Mr. Rogers.
One thing I noticed, your profile says you are from Puebla Mexico. What brings you down here? (I'm living in Puebla as well).
