LHP Chris Narveson was placed on the Temp Inacive List to make room for Mark DiFelice. Certainly the minors allow for "creative"
roster management.

Yeah.
http://39ontheline.blogspot.com/ I think this is the first time an agent has ever done a blog. Enjoy.

Nashville RHP Richie Gardner designated for
assignment.
If he clears waivers, he would have to accept a minor league assignment for 2009 with the Brewers. At least we think so. When you're designated more than once (as Gardner was before by the Reds when the Brewers claimed him), you have the option of choosing minor league free agency. But because he never was actually designated off a 40-man roster with the Brewer waiver claim, this should be considered his first removal, thus no free agent option.

Journal-Sentinel:
Brewers minor-league outfielder Cole Gillespie will have surgery today to repair a fractured sesamoid bone in his right big toe. Foot specialist Richard Marks will perform the surgery, and Gillespie expects to be ready for the start of next spring training. Gillespie, a third-round pick out of Oregon State in 2006, hit .281 with 14 home runs and 79 RBI in 131 games with Class AA Huntsville this season. |

As most of you have seen in this Major League Forum thread, catcher Lou
Palmisano was designated for assignment to make room for Mike Lamb.
Should Palmisano clear waivers, the Brewers would still own his rights through 2009. If Palmisano were to impress next year, he could be re-added to the 40-man late next season, and thus the Brewers could control him for more than the traditional seven seasons, as has been the case with Brad Nelson. Palmisano has been named to the Arizona Fall League taxi squad (two games a week), and should see his first action behind the plate this season in that league. |

Unless he impressed some team with his velocity late in the year when he was OK out of the bullpen, Gardner should return.
Someone might take a flyer on Lou, especially since they can send him back through waivers and hope he clears either right away or when teams set their offseason 40's. Catching is very weak, and Lou at least doesn't embarrass himself at the plate like many C's. |

The main issue with Lou though is his injury. It was first reported that it was similar to Yo's and Yo came back -- Lou didn't and it turned out to be more serious. A leg injury to a catcher is cause for concern IMO and my guess is he stays with the Brewers because of that and he missed valuable time in terms of developing. |

From the Power:
RHP Wily Peralta has been placed on the disabled list and OF Erik Komatsu has been promoted from Helena to take his spot on the roster. Another bat to assist against the tough Augusta staff. |

Do we know what Peralta's injury is, or if he's even actually injured?

That's nice of the Brewers, as it's far from free to fly Komatsu to WV and I assume, back home. Considering they owe WV nothing, and their affiliation
is over except the phone call, it's a nice touch, I assume for the players.

Post-season paperwork reported by Baseball America:
I'll work towards tidying up these loose ends on our Brewerfan Player Index Page and Team Pages over the next couple of days, thanks. I know it's
only paperwork, but several players who were on the respective DL's were not included in this report (Edgar Trejo, Jose Romero, Brett Whiteside, others).
Normally I'd say the list only includes players from high-A and up, but then why is Chad Robinson listed.
