That's it for yours truly until late this evening -- everyone enjoy the start of the holiday weekend -- be safe (unless you're an opposing baserunner,
then be out).

Sweet Rogers pitching today. Wonder if he will go more then 3 innings this start? I guess it is good they are being very careful with him but at some point
don't you have to let him a little more loose?

BrewCrewIn2004 wrote:Didn't you hear? We are grooming every good pitching prospect we have to be a reliever. Every good prospect we have under AAA seems to be limited to 4 innings or less a game. They won't get stretched out until AAA and even then it will be 3-4 years before they can be counted on to pitch 180+ innings. I know that Mike Jones, Mark Rogers, JM Gold, Neugebauer, Etc, Etc, Etc has scared the front office a bit but I think they are babying everyone a bit too much. They are never going to know if Rogers/Braddock can handle a larger workload if they don't try. I say if they are 100% healthy that you let them go 70-80 pitches or so the rest of the year. There is just now way that either of those two guys can be part of the Brewers rotation anywhere in the next 2 years simply because they won't have the endurance built up. |

Braddock is coming off his second surgery. There should be no way that he gets pushed hard for innings this year. The goal this year should be for him to pitch
a full year and then work on stretching him out in the coming years if they feel he can handle being a starter again.

fondy showing a lot of sarcasm there. Remember, all our major pitching prospects are coming off of injury/surgery (Rogers, Braddock, Periard, etc)

Brett Pollock interviews last night's hero Michael Garciaparra. They discuss his injury, the difference between AA and AAA pitching, and the commitment to
play college football and baseball that he walked away from to play baseball.

Shaky first for Periard. Three walks, but he gets out of it without allowing a run.

WI starts the game in a shakey manner, Nieves and BK get in each other's way on a roller towards 1B... it should have been an out, but ended up scored as a
hit.
edit. And of course then Carrol steals 2nd base, then Nieves walks the next batter. Clinton has stolen 22 bases on WI this season and 12 in this series alone... yikes.

Chris Mehring also is graciously allowing us to archive the pregame interviews. Today Chris had manager Jeff Isom on the show and discussed winning close
games, the key to Merklinger's success on the mound, Peralta having success without his best stuff, Lo Cain's rehab assignment, and BK at the plate.
Good stuff.

Lo Cain ground out to second his first time up.
Nieves is struggling mightily. Carrol just hit a triple and scored on an error on the relay throw to home. WI now down 5-0.
